Ionuț Podgoreanu is one of Romania’s most acclaimed horn players, internationally recognized for his distinguished artistic and pedagogical career. He began studying the horn in Ploiești with Professor Liviu Săvuță, continuing at the National University of Music in Bucharest with Nicolae Lipoczi and later at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Hansjörg Angerer.
He was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, working with renowned conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Claudio Abbado, and Iván Fischer. Since 2006, he has been principal horn of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra in Barcelona, and since 2014, he has been a professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu.
He has collaborated with prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Teatro alla Scala, Munich Philharmonic, National Orchestra of France, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic, and MusicAeterna, under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, Teodor Currentzis, Simone Young, Cristian Măcelaru, and Fabio Luisi.
In parallel, he is a member of the Romanian Chamber Orchestra, founder of the Mioritique ensemble, and principal conductor of the Simfonics Orchestral Academy in Barcelona.
A recipient of First Prize in prestigious international competitions, Ionuț Podgoreanu continues to inspire with his exceptional musicianship and dedication to music education.
