Rudolf Korp

Born in Graz (Austria) in 1961.
He studied con with his father in the Conservatory of Innsbruck where he finished his study with special distinction.
He continued his studies in the “Musikhochschule” (University) of Viena under the guidance of professor Adolf Holler (trumpet soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra).
At just 17 years old he won first prize in the competition “Jugend musiziert” with a special award from the Bruckner Orchestra Linz.
From 1983 to 1985 he was a member of the “Scenic Opera Orchestra of Vienna”.
From 1985 he was a trumpet soloist in the “Tonkünstlerorchester” of Viena.
He has performed as a soloist with the “Innsbruck Symphony Orchestra”, “Tonkünstlerorchester” Jeunesse Musicales Orchestra Linz under the direction of Franz Welser – Möst among others.
Rudolf Korp has repeatedly played in concerts and on recordings, under the baton of conductors such as Herbert von Karajan, Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, Leopold Hager, Janssons Maris, James Levine, Sir George Solti, etc..

In 1990 he was Artistic Director of the “International competition for quintets and quartets metal tubes” in Gmünd (Austria).
The educational work of Rudolf Korp has been very intense in both his home country and giving courses in different countries of Europe, Asia and South America for Trumpet and metals.

Since 1986, a founding member of the renowned brass quintet “Brass Vienna” with which he has performed numerous concerts, recordings, courses for metals and successful tours of Europe, Asia and South America.

With Vienna Brass has performed at the following festivals: Wien Modern, Salzburger Festspiele, Ruhr Triennale, Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival, Klangbogen Wien, Hörgänge, Wiener Festwochen Alpentöne Festival, St. Gallen Festival, Schwäbischer Frühling.
