Patricio Cosentino

Patricio Cosentino (n. 1980 Buenos Aires – Argentina) is the most active South American tubist today who has developed an international career as a soloist, chamber music and director.

After receiving his degree under the tutelage of the celebrated tubist Walter Hilgers at the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” in Weimar, Germany, he returns to Argentina as principal tubist of the National Symphony Orchestra and becomes the first qualified tuba teacher in the country.

After several years of orchestral experience, Patricio discovers his love for performing music on stage and decides, from 2012 to the present, to the present, to fully concentrate his career as a soloist.

Since then he has traveled constantly, performing regularly with several of the brass assemblies, symphony bands, as well as the most refined symphony orchestras in America, Europe and Africa.

It should be noted that Patricio Cosentino carries out a work together with South American composers for the creation of brass music and registers to his credit more than 250 compositions and arrangements of composers from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, Brazil and Colombia.

His support for South American composers is definitely a great contribution to the world of brass instruments and has allowed world premieres of concerts by Roberto Pintos, Jorge Tagliapietra, Noelia Escalzo, Luis Rojas, Gerardo Gardelin, Pablo Aguirre, among others, adding new works to the literature of tuba and brass instruments.

It reinforces its support for South American composers, creating the music publisher Ediciones Pampa, which specializes in South American music.

From 2011 to 2014 he was summoned by the World Association of Tubistas and Euphonists (ITEA), as the international representative of its executive committee, being the first South American tubista to belong to such a prestigious international entity.

Patricio Cosentino is known for his master classes and tuba clinics that are frequently held at numerous universities throughout the United States and Europe, including Brass Academy Alicante, Conservatorie à rayonnement Regional de Paris, Hochschule für Musik Trossingen, ESMUC, University of Southern California, University of Arizona, University of Northern Georgia, Ithaca College and Emory University.

As a recording artist, Patricio has several albums as a soloist and chamber musician between “Sudamerica Vibra”, “MOVE!”, “Viejos Aires”, “Just for fun”, “Klangspuren”, and “Durchgang”.

In addition to his solo performances, Patricio Cosentino is a member of the Dispar Trio and the Crespo Brass Ensemble

From 2015 to 2021, he has been an international advisor and director of the Brass Band BlechKLANG in Jena, Germany with which he won the German Brass Band National Championship and the title of the best Eb tuba section of the competition. He also directed the Jugend Brass Band BlechKLANG with which he won the German Brass Band National Championship for the first time in the history of Germany, with the highest total score in the entire competition and was also fourth in the European Brass Band Championship in Montreux, Switzerland, in 2019.

Patricio has been artistic director of the International Summer Brass Band Camp and the Jenaer Blechbläser-Seminar.

Patricio Cosentino is an ambassador of South American music.
